  18. <p>     The venerable publishing house's logo portrays a young woman
  19. blowing softly through a dandelion, sowing knowledge. What an
  20. upset, then, for Larousse to discover spores of deadly
  21. misinformation in the latest edition of its dictionary. A color
  22. illustration on page 203 of the 1991 Petit Larousse en Couleurs
  23. incorrectly identifies three highly poisonous wild mushrooms
  24. as being harmless.

  26. <p>     Reacting promptly to correct the mistake, the worst in its
  27. history, Larousse suspended all sales of the 1,700-page, $75
  28. dictionary, which sells more than a million copies a year, and
  29. recalled the 180,000 volumes already distributed so corrected
  30. champignon stickers can be placed over the erroneous captions.
  31. Cost: $5.5 million.
